Jack Wiebe, Owner/President of Dragon Excavating Ltd.

Jack grew up on an acreage east of Calgary where he enjoyed spending his time running equipment to help out on the family farm. His interests in operating machinery as a young boy developed into a passion and talent for excavation as an adult. Jack spent his teenage years and early twenties working as an employee at local excavating companies and further developed his passion and talent for operating earthwork equipment. Then, in 2005, being highly-trained and very experienced, Jack founded the company. Jack’s goal was to make Dragon Excavating an industry leader, with a reputation for producing quality work. Originally starting as an Owner/Operator, Dragon Excavating has since grown to take on multi-million dollar projects. Thanks to Jack’s dedication, perseverance, and hard work, and his team of experienced employees, Dragon Excavating continues to grow and is proudly celebrating 19 years in business.

Today, Jack can be found in the field, working at the Dragon Excavating jobsites alongside his team. Seven days a week, his hands-on approach ensures that customer expectations are exceeded every time. Personable, friendly, and always easy to contact, Jack and his team have developed many long-lasting working relationships. They love the work that they do, which is what has made Dragon Excavating the industry leader that it is today.

Jeff Wall, Senior Estimator/Foreman

Originally from Saskatchewan, Jeff and his family moved to Calgary when he was a young boy. His father farmed for many years, and later moved into the excavating industry. Following in his father’s footsteps, Jeff sought out to work in the excavating industry as well and took a job with a local earthwork company. Learning from his father, Jeff developed a talent for equipment operating. His keen interest and flare for perfection caught the attention of his colleagues and Jeff was soon promoted to Supervisor. Jeff joined the Dragon Excavating team in 2014, bringing with him more than 15 years of industry experience.

Today, Jeff is Dragon Excavating’s Senior Estimator/Foreman and works to secure projects ranging from basement foundation excavations to City of Calgary park redevelopments. Using state-of-the-art technology, combined with his acute understanding of earthwork, Jeff is able to produce the most accurate quotes for our customers. Over the years, Dragon Excavating has been awarded multi-million dollar contract projects thanks to Jeff’s expertise.

Barry Cybulski, Foreman

Born and raised in Ontario, Barry now lives in Calgary where he has spent more than 30 years working in the excavation industry. Barry started in earthwork as a teenager – his first job was operating a packer for a local road construction business. Thereafter, Barry moved into residential and commercial excavating, where he has spent more than 21 years perfecting his talents.

Today, Barry is a Foreman at Dragon Excavating and oversees the success of our projects, keeping them on time and on budget. Barry is passionate about the work that we do, and he strives to satisfy customers by ensuring Dragon Excavating is providing safe, efficient, and quality service.

Ron Clyne

Ron’s roots run deep in Alberta soil. Growing up in Rockyford, he honed his work ethic working on a farm after high school. Opportunity struck when a local excavating company came to town, and Ron’s skills landed him a position. For the next five years, he traversed Saskatchewan and Alberta, gaining invaluable experience with this family-owned business.

Drawn to the complexities of water and sewer systems, Ron made a shift and spent the next 30 years working in and around the City of Calgary and it’s here that he truly mastered his craft, specializing in the intricate world of water and sewer infrastructure.

Today, you’ll find Ron sharing his extensive knowledge with the next generation. He’s a dedicated mentor, passing on the skills he acquired in the trenches to those new to the industry. With a career spanning decades, Ron brings a wealth of experience and a passion for fostering the future leaders of excavation.

Pat Koroscil

Pat Koroscil’s passion for earthworks started young. Growing up in Ontario, he wasn’t just playing with Tonka trucks in the sandbox – he was honing his skills for a future in excavation. After eight years digging pools for a family company, Pat brought his talents to Calgary. There, he transitioned from residential earthworks to the world of high-rise projects, tackling complex commercial excavations. Today, Pat specializes in finish grade excavation, ensuring the perfect foundation for every project. When he’s not meticulously shaping the earth, you might find him reminiscing about his childhood dream – a dream he gets to live every day.

Garry Hervey

Growing up on a farm outside Calgary, Garry developed a deep connection to the land and a knack for hard work. At just 17, his entrepreneurial spirit took root as he subcontracted his skid-steer services, offering grading and backfilling for house construction. His dedication fueled steady growth, allowing him to expand his equipment fleet and transition into the world of commercial excavation.

The resourceful streak that emerged early on proved invaluable during the economic downturn of the 1980s. Garry pivoted, taking on the management of a gravel pit and gaining a valuable new perspective on the excavation business. By the 1990s, he was back behind the wheel of equipment, but with a broadened knowledge base and an even stronger resolve.

Today, Garry’s a jack-of- all-trades in the excavation industry. His well-rounded experience allows him to tackle any project with confidence, ensuring every job is completed to the highest standard. Whether it’s his farmhand work ethic or his diverse skillset, Garry brings a unique perspective and unwavering commitment to every challenge.
